    Description

Reception dress from the time of the crinolines, ca. 1866. Origin: Museum of the City of New York. The antique dress is made of lavender silk, which is ribbed. The dress is a two-piece dress. The top closes in the front with buttons. Long sleeves. Ribbons of velvet edged with a small lace border. This decorative element also distinguishes the skirt. In the front area, a "false" apron is indicated by means of these ribbons. A beautiful decorative flower on one side of the lush skirt. The skirt ends in a train, which ends in large spikes. This shape is also known in fashion as a "Van Dyke train". The dress is in moderate to good condition. The bodice is partially faded. Faded areas are also present in the skirt. Some stains - especially in the train. A few tiny holes. The lining of the skirt is worn in some places. The decoration is not included.
Part of the lot is also a matching hood from the time. A touch of nothing and yet a typical hood of the time from the 1860s. Purple silk, black and cream lace have been combined here. The silk has been shaped into bows, but also into hanging ribbons. Good state of preservation.
