    The Medal for Warsaw 1939 - 1945 was instituted in 1945 in order to commemorate the heroes history of Warsaw in war with Hitlerite invader. Distinction has been given only one time to people who took active part in defence of Warsaw in 1939, also to the participants of the Resistance 1939 to 1945, the participants of Warsaw Upraise, and soldiers who took part in liberation of Warsaw in January 1945. The awarding was recognized finished Dec. 23, 19992.
