    Description

This listing is for a grouping of 2 letters (one with envelope) and 6 photo postcards of a Polish sailor serving on the O.R.P. Garland (formerly HMS Garland) during WWII. The postcards include an image of the sailor (inscribed on rear) and 5 photos of the O.R. P. Garland and its crew issued by the Polish Ministry of Information in London. Also included are two censored shipboard wartime letters written in 1942 & 1943 by "Wltaolek" (unsure of spelling) to Bolestawa Kowalcryk of 26 Bellflower Street in Dorchester, MA.
The O.R. P. Garland (Okret Rzecypospolite Polskie--Warship of the Republic of Poland), formerly the HMS Garland, was loaned to the Polish Navy in May 1940 and was active in a variety of escort and combat operations until the end of the War. For someone who can translate the Polish this should prove to be an interesting group!
